National Dance Day was on Saturday, July 28th, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still get down. Dancing is the perfect way for your kids to get rid of some excess energy and to let out some giggles. Dancing with your kids also lets you get out some excess energy and spend some quality time with the kids that they’ll remember for years to come. The greatest thing is that you don’t have to search far and wide to find preschool dance songs.
When my class gets a little too…energetic…I put on a dance song that encourages movement but also includes directions. Not only are you giving them some gross motor exercise but you’re helping them improve their memory as well. I pulled some of my favorite videos to use on YouTube that you can share with your kids.
This song includes action verbs such as “clap”, “stomp”, “sing”, and “shake”. Kids will have fun following the directions with the robot and dancing chickens!
While this song doesn’t give a lot of verbal cues, the flashy colors and energetic dance crew will make your child jump off the couch. Similar to Just Dance, this song features simple choreography and an easy to remember chorus that will have your child singing and dancing. It’s also a great dance if you’re covering a unit on dinosaurs.
My go-to song for a wild class! It gives everyone an excuse to be silly while following directions and some fun choreography. If the kids really like this song, you can do this dance every day as part of your learning ritual!
I like the freeze dance because it’s another opportunity for kids to listen to directions. The action verbs change from dancing to skipping, twirling, and hopping. Once the music stops, the kids have to FREEZE! Then the fun starts again.
You’ll quickly fall in love with this adorable chicken as you follow along in his dances. This dance is popular in daycares and in homes alike, and your kids will love it just as much.
This fun dance is set in a garden and helps children to develop fine and gross motor skills while mastering simple choreography. The easy to remember song will have your child singing and dancing in no time.
This song has no lyrics but a funny video for you and your kids to watch and dance to. The kids can try to copy the choreography while naming familiar animals. This video will have you all laughing and dancing!
